4:07PM - Long Time No Write

My life for the past four months: busy busy busy

- relationship: awesome, a little restricted by schedules but surviving,
- school: full course-load, exams/assignments/midterms/interviews/study groups/etc. (pressure is high in this category)
- work: still working two jobs
- time: very limitted
- health: losing out on a lot of sleep, still fighting with a cough, slightly depressed/nervous about school/deadlines

Sorry I don't have more time to write more, but I have to study to write a Medical/Health Geography final (worth 40% of the grade), tomorrow morning (8:30am) and have to work (7pm-11pm) tonight. Hopefully things will have cleared by next Friday.

Take care all!

10:11PM - Braces Are OFF

Three years later, the braces are off! My teeth are free (and straight). They came off on Thursday (thank you Mike for driving me to Sudbury to get to that appointment), and today I bit into my first apple in 3 years and had a cob of corn.... it was GREAT to be able to bite into them (though the stomache is still a little unsettled from them, but oh well). According to the orthodontist, my teeth were only 90% done, but in my opinion, they were 110% better than they were those years ago, AND since I wouldn't be able to come up for anymore appointments for months on end - as has been the story for the past two years - we both agreed that it was time to remove them.

WOOT!
FREEDOM!

2:42PM - Lisenced - Chapter Four

To the test.

"ok Leah. Go out and we'll check the lights again" So we checked. All the lights worked. "what we need to test now, and we didnt test before, is the horn" I don't believe it! That horn had better work! So I pounded on it... it worked.

So we were off. I was talking the whole time because I was really nervous, *tick*. I was unable to merge on the highway - heavy traffic - so I had to break on the ramp til someone let me in *tick*. I had to do a two-lane left turn... I ended up in the proper lane, but didn't get into the 'right' lane until after a crosswalk - for saftey reasons - *tick*. I went through a set of traffic lights, and it turned yellow *tick*. I did a parallel park in a no parking zone (by her request though), and wound up three feet from the curb, *tick*.

So, after all of those *ticks* I lost all hope, and was planning on how I would re-book and get up in time for another test, etc. I stop the car outside the office and the instructor tallies up all of the marks. "Well Leah.... You got your lisence".

I'm dumbfounded.

So everything was written up and the paperwork was done. One more thing that happened that I founf very amusing was that while I was waiting in my mom's office, there was another client there who was waiting to see the lawyer. So we talked, and she had no idea that I was not a client. Turned out, after she had finished with her business, I got my license and went over to the MTO office, and SHE worked there! "Come on ahead and I'll fix you up whatever you need; since you were so patient in there waiting for me to be done in that office". "um, ok" :)

So I'm licensed. Much to some people's dismay; having a Jewish girl praying in the back seat isn't a good sign (ther was bad driving, and there was good reasoning for the bad driving too - it's not a regular thing... she was just in the wrong car at the wrong time).

And that's my saga about my "As If" weekend. Sorry it was a bit long winded, but I know I needed to write it down; because, lets face it... it's kind of a long story to repeat over and over, as much as I enjoy it, I know that I'd slowly forget details, and some people would end up with a much less exciting story. Thanks for reading :)

2:26PM - Lisenced - Chapter Three

As mom and I rushed frantically down to the McAllisters' Ford dealership (where a long time friend of the family is now working), mom could not stop expressing how ironic and annoying it was to have the break light out on the same car, for each daughter. I was still in hystarics.

Luckily, Miles (the friend), was available to fix the light. He dropped what he was doing and assisted us, while also attempting to calm me down. After a while, and a second dud bulb that he had used to replace the already dud bulb, we were back on the road.

We hurried back to the office and there was a line-up of over a dozen people. As if! So we shuffled to the side, and moved to the front and got the attention of the tester. She asked if we wanted to re-book for anothere date... no, we fixed the issue, is there still time for me to take the test? No. The spot is gone. That, and the next guy to be tested after me ALSO had a breaklight out; she could go five months without anyone having a light out, and here she has two in a row. "I do have a spot open today at 2:40 if you want it." "YES!" "well, here's the number to call if you decide you want it..." "We don't need the number! I'll TAKE IT!" And so, I was rebooked for 2:40 that same day.

Still shaking, I went back to my mom's office and READ a book.... this is big for me... I'm not a reader at all. We went for lunch, then mom showed me the route she might possibly take me down for the test. Afterwards we went back to the office, I calmed down a bit, and 2:20 rolled around. Mom and I went out and checked all the lights one more time, and I was off to my test.... again.

2:02PM - Licensed - Chapter Two

Following my arrival in Arnprior were numerous visits with close friends, and family. And Wes' Chips.... mmmmmm.... if there's one thing you must do when visiting the 'prior, it's have some Wes' Chips. Anyways. In preparation for the drivers exam, I practised my parallel parks, etc. as well as checked all of the lights/saftey features on the car *this is important to note.

My appointment was at 11am in Renfrew. I was there early and sat in the office and waited, during which time, I watched three people walk in from their tests and re-book - indicating they failed the test. So I'm thinking 'oh great! They're filling a quota, and not being too generous today'. The biggest concern for me was that if I failed, I would have to re-book (and the earliest time was in September), and that would mean trying to coordinate another trip home, in the begining of the school year, which I don't want to miss... I mean, Intro to Ancient Greek (the language) isn't exactly a course where I could bluff on the tests (though I plan to try at some point :P). So I panic. I'm looking for as many back-up plans as possible in case I fail.

11:00. "ok, Leah. Go ahead out and get set up and I'll come out to check the signal lights and break lights".

I go out, get settled in, and say a little prayer. The instructor comes out of the office and walks in front of the car and tells me to use the left blinker, *check*, right blinker *check*. She walks around to the back of the car. left blinker, *check*, right blinker *check*. Now break lights. She gives the cancel signal and yells "We can't do the test." I ask "What!?!" "You have a break light out." and I went pale. As noted earlier, I had chacked the lights beforehand and everything worked just fine. So we walked back into the office and she asked if I wanted to re-book. Fuck no! So I buzzed out to my mom's office (in Renfrew, thank God!), and she saw me pull in at ten after eleven and knew something was up. When I told her that there was a break light out, she looked at me as if she had seen a ghost; evidently, when my little sister, Deanna, went to do her G1exit test, she also had a break light out: same car, other side, but they had checked the lights ten minutes before the test, so they managed to get a new one right quickly. So mom and I jetted out the door and rushed off to get the break light fixed and back to the appointment in hopes there was still time.

1:47PM - Licensed - Chapter One

Last weekend I returned to Arnprior for a visit with my friends and family, and to take my G2 exit test - my drivers license expires in October, so if I didn't get the test done and passed I'd be back at square-one; having to drive with an experienced/licensed driver for a year, and so on.

Instead of taking the bus home, my mom came up to North Bay to collect me; she stayed over Friday night, and we left for breakfast at 9am Saturday. My roommate, Mike (aka Magnew - whom I've known since high school) was also heading home (which is about 45 minutes away from me), and had said he'd leave around 11 or 11:30 Saturday. After breakfast with mom, she decided to do some shopping in preparation for the wedding she's hostessing in our backyard back home this September. By the time we left North Bay and were coming on Deux Riviers, I looked at the clock and realized how long we had taken and made a comment to her: "Wow. You know what? I wouldn't be surprised if we passed Mike at some point; we're at about the same timing as him now." and not even 30 seconds after saying that, we drove passed Mike at a gas station with his car broken down. So we gave him a lift as far as Deep River where he met with his mom and got the car towed.

Then we all went home, not quite happily ever after....

12:50AM - No Rest For The Wicked

I haven't been sleeping well lately... in fact, I haven't really been sleeping at all, and when I finally DO get to sleep, it's always when I know I have to get up to get things done; thus, I rise and get to the day, sans sleep. Maybe it's the heat. Maybe it's my work schedule. Maybe my eating habits, or exercise patterns. Who knows. Luckily though, so far the lack of sleep hasn't really affected me too much, other than not getting sleep: I mean, I don't feel tired or rundown..... yet. The way I look at it, I go through these stints every now-and-then, so it'll pass. Until then, I shall bother everyone with these 'I'm not right, but I'm alright' posts :)

4:23PM - Busy Busy Busy

School's finally out! I took an advanced summer course, so that kept me in class a bit longer than the normal Sept-April. Ah well, it's over, and as it turns out, hard work paid off: big ol' 90% for the GPA to munch on... woot woot.

Recently went to Sudbury to celebrate Carson's Birthday; THAT was fun! Keg, whiskey, Keg-sized whiskey, mmmm. Who's idea was it to put ME in charge of the camera? Hehehehe... I always have way too much fun with that. The orthodontist appointment the next morning SUCKED! I'm not one to swear, (which most of you already know), but that appointment fucking hurt! To make matters worse, he changed his original dates to mean that I have about 3 more appointments left, when THAT one was supposed to be my second last.... jerk. Ok. I'm over it.

Lovin' the new place! Linz, Tim and Magnew are awesome roomies. 'Tis a wee bit warm in this upstairs room though... meh, good excuse to visit the beach on a regular basis.

Last but not least: MikeyC is awesome :)

3:34PM - It's been a while

I haven't posted anything in a while, but that's mostly because of school: things are piling up, and it seems once i get one assignment done, there are two more given to me to do. What I'm finding weird is that the stress hasn't really caught up with me yet, I mean, I'm still my smiley, cheery self. I know very well that I should be freaking out and telling myself that I shouldn't be.... but I'm not. Did I finally take my own advice? Weird.

I got a job at a sex shop, and let me tell you! It is interesting. I'm not allowed to talk too much about it due to confidentiality policies and such, but I can say that it's a really nice store and there are some good deals in there, *wink wink*. The people I work with are great too, lots of fun.

Anyways, I hope everyone is alright, and to all those feeling the stresses of this time of year, take my advice (and trust me, it feels GREAT): try not to let it get to you. :D

6:40PM - Movie Production

Movies!

I love movies! Not only do I enjoy watching them, I am a huge fan of participating in them. In the past year I've been a part of five productions; 'Carrier' (zombie movie), 'Cheated' (love story/short film), 'Wikkid' (short episodes in the form of a video-game; from the creator of 'Carrier'), 'Death By Cowboy' (oh my God! awesome movie! a zombie western), and 'In The Next Room' (a short film from the same guys who produced Cheated). I am lovin this! I have been told many times that I should go into showbiz (doing horror make-up, body effects, directing and acting), but the issue I have with that is that I don't feel that there'd be enough job-wise up here for me. Aw well. For now, I'm quite content working on low/no budget films for fun :)

PS: Feel better Mikey!

My dear friend Lindsay had her birthday today and we threw her a surprise part y (her boyfriend and I) and it went well :) I'm a little tipsy amd i figured I'd try writing a journal entry... since i think they're fun to read when others are drunk and write, though i think mine should bne fairl y legible because i only had a half a botle to drink (which for me isnt too bad of a night). It was fun walking home (2am and 2 extra feet of snow to tredge through). i'm glad things worked out since she was having a bit of a hard day - with no one really paying attention to her birthday (i know that sucks form epereience). when I ogt home i was supoeesd to call to say i made it, but my roommate was one the phone... at 2 am!/?? wow. yeah so thats fun. mikey was a goodsport :) he helped decorate and surprise her :) though he has to work tomorrow so he went homw ... no worries.. gotta do whatcha gotta do. hats off to a greta surprise party sucess :D

6:01PM - 'Clumbsy' isn't a strong enough word

So what would you say to someone who can fall down stairs 5 times in one day, stub both feet on the same door (one heading IN and then the second on the way OUT), fall in a parking lot (not trip, not slip, just fall), and hit their head on a towel rack while preparing for a shower?

Yeah, welcome to my week. I guess I don't mind it, but I'm just not sure why things are happening like this. As for injuries: brused thy and knees, scraped hands, and a bit of headache - nothing serious.

1:09PM - Busy busy busy

Isn't it wild how things can be going along nice and easy, and then all of a sudden everyone wants everything done at the same time? And to think; students like me, we're PAYING people to give us this stress... wow, go us. To be honest, I'm fine :) It takes a fair bit to get me stressed out ;)

Best advice I've ever given/recieved about stress: "take life one crisis at a time", and of course: "don't forget to BREATHE!"

Typed up my resume last night/this morning, and wow. Should a resume turn out to be 4 pages long? I don't even know if I'D hire me, (and I'm thinking that that's probably not a good thing to think about). Oh well. That's just one more thing on the list of things to do today, (hand them out... yay, fun fun).

Hope all is well with everyone :)

So yeah. This is why I should not be allowed to write late at night. The problem is, though, once out of class, it's hard to wind down... luckily, I have a good buddy who's here for me if I need a quick relaxant - thank you Wisers ;) (all in moderation, of course)

10:33AM - Figured Out... Sort Of

H'ok. I'm proud to say that I think I'm getting the hang of this now. Next step: well, I'm working on getting some pictures to work (which Mike was surprised I didn't already have up; dude, look at who's driving here, don't expect them too soon).
Monday again. Better than Tuesdays for me (then again, almost anything would be better than classes from 8:30am-9:30pm in a day). Oh well, fine with me.
About the voting. I don't plan on casting a vote for two reasons: 1. I have no idea as to what the issues are and where each party stands, so it would certainly be an uneducated vote, and 2. I didn't get a voters card! Jerks. So Carson, I would have loved to have been able to vote for ya, but they took that option away from me.
Well now this is turning into rambling, (which I tend to do a lot; though I'm getting better at catching myself and tuning it down).
Everybody have a good day :)
